Big tech about the metaverse, again

- Satya Nadella in the Financial Times today, explaining that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard makes perfectly sense for them. Just as they create software tools for developers, they are now into the business of not only building games, but also to democratise game building and bring the technology to anyone who wants to build any space and have people, places, things digitised. He also wants the metaverse to be open and interconnected and does not exclude regulation to make it so.

- Meta has a tough time selling its metaverse ideas. It now publishes figures for Reality Labs which is their department very much in charge of all things metaverse. In the fourth quarter they suffered an operational loss of 3.3 billion dollar for 877 million dollar revenue. This comes at a time when they get heavy pressure on the growth of the ad-revenue because of privacy measures by Apple and behavioral shifts of the users. Investors are not amused, the stock went down 20% after the announcements.
