Big Tech looks at web3

Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth wants the technologists of the company to look at web3, blockchain, NFT's etc. If they can collaborate with web3 entrepreneurs, they should, he says.

Sundar Pichai, the boss of Alphabet, says blockchain is a powerful and interesting technology, with broad applications.

These are just two examples of Big Tech executives who seem interested by web3, even though web3 stands for the decentralized web and seems very much in contradiction with companies such as Meta and Alphabet. This questions the **boundaries** between the powers that be and the technological opposition. Will big tech simply encapsulate big chunks of web3? People tell me there is still a considerable movement of technologists who explicitly don't want to work for big tech and who prefer the 'real' web3. The **motivation** of these people is to rebel against surveillance structures and to be free to pursue their own interests.
