Bored Apes buy CryptoPunks

Yuga Labs buy the rights (intellectual, commercial) on the famous NFT-series CryptoPunks and Meebits.

The sellers are Larva Labs, a Canadian studio loving to do very new things in an early phase of a technology, but not so much into running an actual company, managing communities etc.

Yuga Labs on the other hand is developing into a company which already created the Bored Apes Yacht Club, and they work together with established corporations to leverage their creations in games, ad campaigns and community building. At the same time they listen well to the NFT-communities. They will transfer IP-rights to the holders of the various NFTs.

What it could mean is that the NFT-world is becoming more professional and that vagues situations (who owns which rights) are being settled.

It seems that classical, centralized corporations in sports, fashion, gaming, music are embracing the decentralized ethos of Web3 in order to stimulate communities which are relevant to them.
