Ukrainian organisations ask for financial support in order to fight back against the Russian invasion. Crowdfunding organisations typically exclude such financing, so funds are being transmitted using crypto currencies. On Sunday February 27 media reported more than 14 million dollar was being donated.
So what does it mean? Often it is said crypto is a lousy means of payment because it is too volatile. However, it's being used to transfer money there where the traditional payment and banking systems are not or less available.
Or it is being used to circumvent rules and legislations. Not only by criminals but also by citizens who want to bring their saving into safety (capital flight from Turkey, Ukraine...).
