Russia sends 'peace troops' to a separatist region in Ukraine, Donbas.
There is international condemnation of the move. There will be sanctions but no military intervention by other nations.
**Boundaries** on several levels have been transgressed. There is a crude distortion of truth by the Russian side, international treaties are being discarded and of course national boundaries are no longer being respected.
Similar policies can be expected by other authoritarian regimes, think China wanting to control Taiwan which it considers to be a breakaway region.
These movements lead to a world where weapons and armies become even more important and the possibility of all-out wars becomes bigger. It was supposed that wars in Europe, an affluent region with traumatic war experiences, would be unthinkable. This conviction is gone.
